London affordable housing projects share $8.4 million from Ottawa, Ontario

Two London affordable housing projects got an $8.4-million boost from the provincial and federal governments Wednesday.

The multimillion-dollar investment will be split between 1090 Hamilton Rd. and 440 Clarke Rd., with the bulk going to Residenza Ortona, a recently completed complex on Hamilton Road, east of Highbury Avenue.

The second affordable housing development by the Italian Seniors Project, the building offers 54 affordable units, one-bedrooms rented at $639 a month, and six units at median market rent, or $833 a month.
